Last Month preparation tips for Engineering Sem

Image result for last month of exam

30 days are more than sufficient to get a good GPA. Assuming you have say 60-70% marks in internals, here is what you can do

1) Collect good notes of all the topics from net, seniors, classmates etc etc.

2)Identify the topics that are easy or those you already know. They may include the ones who paid attention to in class, studied for mid sem, know them because they were in 12th etc etc, Once you identify such topics, study them now and then leave them for revision just near the exams, because they are easy or you know them. This way you can cover up for 50-60% of syllabus.

3)Now the topics that are hard but logical and since you're in an engineering college, there will be such topics.  Devote maximum time to them as you will enjoy studying them and mastering them will help you to score well.

4)Now to the topics we all hate. The boring ones which are to be crammed. For such, plug-in your earphones and read them over casually again and again. You will retain a major portion.

5)Don't study for long duration at once. Since you have a lot of time, take frequent breaks and relax your mind.

6)Revise the topics once at least. This can increase your chances of getting a good GPA a lot.

7)If you want, you may practice a few papers from the past years so as to get a feel of time management.

8)On exam days, try and present your paper in a nice way.
All the Best :)

Hot facts of Semester.. Must Read

Image result for facts

“Pass in 5 subjects and you will be pushed through the 6th subject in case you fail.”

This is one of the most talked about topic. So to clear out the confusion, let me tell you guys that this is true only up to some extent. If you get lucky, you will be pushed through or maybe not. Don’t completely rely on this policy.

The worst nightmare of an engineer – A KT in Mechanics.

Yes, it is true. Try to pass Engineering Mechanics in the first attempt itself.
Your concepts must be clear in order to pass this subject. Don’t just mug up answers. Instead, stress on the method of solving word problems. That would help you score more marks easily.
And you need not be a pro in statics and dynamics in order to pass. If you get the basics you can nail it. Get done with easy topics such as Lami’s theorem, Friction, ladder problems, D’ Alembert’s principle, Varignon’s theorem, trusses etc.
It’s okay if your concepts are still not clear. There are lots of people who studied in those 5-6 days which you get in between 2 exams and yet passed. (Me too!) Understand the concepts from some senior friend of yours, teacher or some nerdy friend of yours, refer class notes or simply search the WEB and you will be good to go. Just don’t procrastinate! Here’s a link to some YouTube tutorials which I referred during my exam.

For subjects like EVS, having general knowledge is enough to pass but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t study at all. Trust me, I know people who have a KT in just EVS. JUST EVS. And I don’t think they’re proud of it. So, yes it is easy but don’t take it lightly.
REMINDER: DO NOT FORGET TO LOOK AT THE BLUEPRINTS. Even if you do so the night before the exam

Tips For Semester exams..

Image result for semester exam
So the time of the semester has finally come where most of us would rather be hit by a car than study another page. Your first ever Engineering exams are here.

This post is all about how to survive this dreadful time without actually going insane.

4. Relax

Take your time out, come out of the den and chill for a while. Sitting inside your room and studying for hours will simply tire your mind and make it difficult for you to learn new stuff. You must take short breaks in between your study sessions.

People very often lose their minds a day before the exam. Don’t let this happen to you. Be calm. It’s just an exam. You have already gone through the worst. The JEE’s, boards and what not! There’s nothing to be afraid of.

Which doesn’t mean that you’ll just lie in your bed wondering about the planets.
You can take a break. Nothing wrong in it. Just don’t procrastinate.

3. Blueprints

This is your key to passing and also to top the exams! Make utmost use of the blueprints. The question papers are set according to it. You will get a good idea of the paper pattern.

At least have a look at the blueprint even if you haven’t studied no shit. So that at least you won’t feel surprised when you see the question paper.

Don’t even..
Blueprints are as good as spoilers. You just need to study for the right topics and you can easily nail the exam!
Last year, Applied Physics was quite not according to the blueprint. But except for Applied Physics, almost all the question papers came according to it.
Even Applied Physics more or less comes according to the blueprint but don’t be solely dependent on the blueprint for this subject.

2. Easy Solutions

If you haven’t bought this precious book yet then kindly call your nerd friend ask him to lend you his copy for a day. Those who already have this might be knowing what it actually contains. And for those who don’t know, this book basically has a bunch of previous years question papers along with their solutions in it. This is your weapon to score big. And of course also to pass.
Look out for questions which have been asked more than once. Those are likely to be repeated. Learn them by heart!
.
There’s no such thing as “learning by HARD”. It is “learning by HEART”. I mean.. Who learns by Hard.. wtf does that even mean?
Also, make sure that you stress on question 1. The compulsory questions are usually easy and are asked from the introductory part of the lessons.

1. Attempt

Always start your answer sheet with the questions which you are most confident about. Leave the not-so-sure ones for the last hour.
Try to attempt each and every question.
You will be able to attempt a question only if you have gone through the topic at least once. Attempting a question doesn’t mean that you can write complete bullshit and expect the examiner to give you marks for it. You can take your chances but only in the worst case, ie. when you are below the passing threshold. And if you get lucky you might even get marks for it.
Place yourself in the place of the examiner and then think of an answer which you would expect from a student for that particular question. This would help you set a clear aspect of approaching to the answer.

Some wise points

1. Firstly, head for the topics which carry the maximum weight. This way, you can secure good marks easily.

2. Don’t go for new topics during the last hours. Even if you have studied less, revise the topics which you have already studied at least once. Because not being able to memorize the topics which you have once studied makes you feel like a rotten tomato during the exams. So don’t turn yourself into one.

3. Make notes! Sounds nerdy. But make it a habit! Write down whatever you learn. It helps you memorize and it also saves your time as you won’t have to run through pages to search for the topics which you have studied. Results assured!

4. There’s no point in relying on others for passing. Scoring 32 out of 80 isn’t that difficult if you study the right way. (Not trying to hurt the sentiments of those who failed)

5. Learn to manage time. Don’t get lost in the middle of an exam. Keep track of time.

And obviously, get some sleep a day before exam.

6. Be confident! Always remember that you yourself hold the key to success and failure. You make your own choices!
As soon as you finish your exams, the wave of Horizon would start getting all over the college. And nothing feels worse than knowing that you are going to get a KT during the time of Horizon! So save yourself from it and get done with your exams happily.

7. Don’t get depressed if your exam doesn’t go well. Relax and study well for the next exam. There is no point in thinking about the same thing again and again.

8. And most importantly, plan an amazing trip after the exams!
